After the sad news of Colin Groom passing in December and the workshop closing down in January suddenly its safe to say it hasn’t been an easy start to the year with lots of changes , and having lost somebody very close to me.
My love for classic cars has still carried on though with working on a couple of restorations on customers cars at home or at there house including an MGA and a 1960 190 SL and MGB’s, I’ve also been helping Peter down at Devon Classic Cars, The opportunity has now come to set up on my own in my own workshop in Ipplepen just up from where Colins was, I will be based there from the 1st of September with all the correct insurance in place
The address is unit 9 Bulleigh Farm, Ipplepen Road, Ipplepen, Newton Abbot TQ12 5UA (right next door to Hunters Brewery).
Thank you for the support, I’m happy to try and help anybody,
A Thank You Letter
Thanks for the heads up about the D Day run on 24/10/2019, we participated in said run with our MG/C/GT. It was the first longish run we’ve done since an engine and diff rebuild along with lots of modifications ie lsd and various engine mods etc etc.
The car went well on the day and we covered 300 miles in total. There were 46 classic cars in all plus 6 motorcycle out riders 3 front and 3 bringing up the rear.
Annie Binding did a fantastic job of organising the whole thing and my wife and I were proud to be there, thanks again for sending us the info on this prestigious occasion.
Tony & Lesley Creed.
For the attention of all D&C members interested/attending the South Devon Railway Car and Motorcycle Gathering 11th/12th September
Clarification regarding PLI: Having seen the entry forms for the above event, there seems to be some confusion amongst our members about the declaration on the form about Public Liability insurance.
Am I correct in thinking that the statement means that the SDR has the public liability insurance and all that the entrants are actually signing for is the fact that they have RTA insurance and a licence for that particular vehicle.
Could you please confirm that is correct so that I can let our members know.
Bob, Yes, you are quite right. SDR has £10m public liability insurance. All entrants are signing to say is they have normal RTA insurance.
Thus uninsured vehicles brought in say on the back of a trailer - although I must say that doesn't exactly sound too risky, and I know of at least one Model T that arrived on the back of a trailer and it would have been a shame to have sent it away.
