I received an email to my chairman@mgccdc.org address from a member of the Old MG Club Switzerland who were touring east Devon & Dartmoor, one of the group was experiencing a problem with their MG and was looking for help.

Initial email form Andreas Riederer :-

Good Morning Pete,

Sorry to bother you but we do need your help. We are a small group of MG owners from the Old MG Club Switzerland and got some problems with some of our cars.

We are located in Broadclyst and we are wondering if you can recommend us a small garage nearby. We are staying here for another week.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Many thanks for your kind help.

Not knowing of any garages in the Broadcylst area myself,  I suggested that they make contact with Tony Short, the natter leader for the Exeter Area, who managed to find the part required (one of his group actually had a spare and arranged to fix the car).

Tony Short arranged an additional ‘special natter’ and invited the Swiss group to meet fellow MGCC Devon & Cornwall Centre members.

As Chairman of the Devon & Cornwall Centre, I felt it was important to attend that Natter to personally meet and welcome them to our part of the country.

Thank you email from Andreas :-

Dear Pete,

First of all - sorry for my late answer.

I like to thank you very very much for the organization of the meeting at the New Inn.

We all were really surprised that so many MG Club members were eager to meet us.

Well done – we really to appreciate it and please let your members know as well.

We started on Friday morning our trip back and fortunately we – including the 3 cars arrived Switzerland without any incident. No wonder with such cars - these are MG´s.

Just in case you plan a trip to Switzerland – please let us know your plans in advance so we can also arrange a meeting with the Old MG Club and we can also give you some advices about nice places or trips you should not miss during your trip.

For the time being I send you and all the members – also in the name of Ernst, Michael, Walter (called Wallo), Susanne and Thea all the best – stay healthy and enjoy the ride in your MG´s and who knows – maybe we meet again next year …
